The penultimate celebration took place on Bank Holiday Monday evening. The BBQ had been organised by a group of neighbours and everyone in the road was invited. Tables were groaning with plates piled high with chilli, sausages, pig roast, burgers, bread rolls, stewed apples and fried onions.

Elsewhere in the garden, a tent provided a home to all the amazing desserts that were entered into the Royal Dessert competition.  There were Union Jack cakes, cakes, trifles, pavolasand profiteroles amongst them. Sitting alongside was the fantastic Jubilee fruit cake, one of four made by a local resident.

Tables and chairs were scattered over the garden and at least 170 guests tucked into the delicious food. Musical entertainment accompanied the feast. A group of Wedderburn Road children played their musical instruments followed by a Saxaphone quartet which got everyone’s feet tapping.

Certificates were awarded to all the competition winners after the judging was completed – not an easy task and taken very seriously!  Some guests left early to walk up to Worcestershire Beacon to see the beacon lit and others used the vantage point in the garden to see it. Several tugs of war were enjoyed by adults and children to end the evening.
