The coffee morning combined refreshments, a plant sale and children’s competitions in another of the beautiful gardens in Wedderburn Road. Over 100 people of all ages came and enjoyed tea, coffee and homemade cakes. The refreshments were provided by residents and there were two large tables full of all sorts of cakes.
There were various competitions for the children including Jubilee-themed cupcakes and miniature gardens. These were on display at the coffee morning and then judged by the senior residents of the road at the barbecue.
Another popular activity was guessing where the treasure (a box of chocolates) had been hidden on Treasure Island. By the end of the morning the island was covered with little flags!
We also held a plant sale to raise money. The plants were raised by Wedderburn residents and brought along on the day. There were so many we had to find more tables to hold them all. They were all sorts: shrubs, bedding plants, vegetables and perennials. Over £100 was raised and the road’s gardens are even more beautiful for it!
